I went into the dealership fully prepared for stress, confusion, and the sudden urge to fake my own disappearance… but then I worked with Joe Frechette. Joe answered all my questions, and helped me leave with the car I wanted and now love. If you’re buying a car, do yourself a favor and ask for Joe Frechette. I had a 10/10 experience. I would absolutely car shop with him again.
So my Jeep Renegade got to $72k+ miles and decided she was just done. So I was forced into a decision I wasn’t ready for. I decided to spend long hours researching what to do and whether or not I should fix the Jeep, buy another used vehicle or go for broke and buy new. In my search I was surprised to find that on a final list of three , two fords were in the running. I tested the non-Ford first and I liked it a lot but wasn’t about to say yes until I got behind the wheel of those two Fords. I looked around for dealerships near me, researched each of them and landed with Ira Ford in Saco. I walked into the shop with no expectations, and ended up in front of Tanner. Lovely fella. Anyway after a few questions he flashed a very charming, if a bit mischievous, smile on me and told me he knew exactly who he was pairing me with. He was confident we would become bbf’s. Intrigued I waited patiently for my sales soul sister when in walks a head of curls that would rival Disney’s Merida. She walks up to me hand extended, sans bow and arrow and disappointingly the Scottish accent, and said, “Hello my name is Shaunte.” I liked her from the jump and with a nod to Tanner and a, “well played sir” we were off to start the journey to my next car. I still didn’t have any expectations…until I got into the Maverick. I wasn’t a fan of the color or the decals, but the ride, oh heck yeah! Instant smile. I got a little giddy I think. With Shaunte in the passengers seat we went for a drive and shared an easy conversation about what I needed and wanted. She was relaxed and easy going. I don’t exactly know what we talked about because in my head I was having a discussion with myself about playing it cool but I really like that truck. I almost thought I’d be leaving with a Maverick. But then I got into the Baby Bronc and oh my was I happy on the inside. I imagine that I was completely stoic on the outside. I didn’t want Shaunte thinking she had me sold, not yet. I wasn’t walking out of there with a car, no I was determined to be still and sit with my choice for a few days. Somewhere in there Shaunte talked about the Maverick hybrid. And not having anything to lose I asked if I could drive that one. And I’ll be dipped in mustard and called a hot dog if I didn’t love that ride more than the first truck. Not helpful!!! The only thing I knew at the end of those tests was that the third vehicle wasn’t even a contender anymore. So with the Jeep practically on the trash heap and the “other” drive a distant memory, my choice was next to impossible. It came down to cargo space. Both the truck bed and the Baby Bronc back had what I needed; a place to fit a LOT of flowers. I took pictures of them and told Shaunte that I need time because I need to get the right one. Before I left Shaunte showed me a magical accessory in the Baby Bronc; a tray in the cargo space that doubles as a table! My brain caught fire calculating the pallets of flowers that I could get in there with that extra space. Not to mention when the seats were down. AND the rubber mats that protected everything. A few days I asked for. No pressure from them. No “you better jump on this because the deal will end in 17.2 hrs and you’ll have to start all over again”. Nope I was out the door with a hug and a smile and a thank you and I was on my way to ponder the possibilities of a new Ford. A Ford!!! I got home and spent several hours that night doing more research on the Bronco and the Maverick. I was looking for the negatives at this point because I really liked them both. In the end it was that table in the Baby Bronc. Imagine that. Funny how our minds work. All that said the experience was a fun and enjoyable one. I laughed a lot and never felt pressure to buy. I’m grateful for the match with Shaunte, and hope Ford treats her like the Disney heroine she is. Thank you Ira Ford of Saco!
My wife and I walked in looking to purchase a brand new 2026 Ford Maverick with a lot of particular specifications. What we were searching for was a long shot; especially considering how high of a demand these trucks are - and how rare of a color the particular one was that we wanted! After sitting down and talking with Mak about everything we were seeking, it seemed like our only option was to build which would take up to three months to come in. We were disappointed.. Until later that night he reached out letting us know that their sister store had one coming in that was everything we were searching for - and more! We were able to work out a great deal and we had an awesome experience working with him and so happy with how fast everything fell into place. A 3 month turnaround turned into less than two weeks after we told him we'll take it. It was a 10 out of 5 stars experience! We would recommend Mak and his team over at Ira Ford any day of the week!
