Alright. Im going to land on 4 stars, realistically a 3.8 rounded up.
I found Best Choice Auto via online searching the main websites for used cars for sale. The one I found and ended up purchasing was found via Cargurus.com. It was a 2013 Mini Cooper S in pristine body condition inside and out and with low mileage and the price was ranked better than most of equivalent age and miles. I found it to be very fairly priced.
Nigel and Neil are the owners at this small, newly opened dealership for used cars.
Nigel was my contact and was very responsive to my inquiries. Both Nigel and Neil are great guys, personable and easy to do business with.
They even picked me up in Monroeville, a good 45 minutes away on day of purchase to take me back to their shop for delivery of the car to me.
That was truly welcomed in the logistics part of this transaction. Another plus was no extra fees added other than required tax and documentation (nominal).
The only down side, thus, not able to give 5 stars, is the "sold as-is" condition of the transaction. Yes, I am aware of its meaning. I did take a leap of faith and logistics and timing needed caused me to accept that. That being said, I would still think there are a few items that could have been both noticed and addressed prior to the car's sale by the dealership.
My view is anything defective that should have been visually obvious to them since having it in their possession and, admitting to driving it, should have been identified and/or fixed prior to selling.
I noticed the dash light immediately upon still being in Washington, PA, near their shop that indicated a back light was out. Then, overnight, I noticed a huge leak of what turned out to be oil on my garage floor (I would learn it was due to needing an oil drain plug). Also, one of the back up light assemblies had a hole in it, very obvious and would not pass state/emissions inspection due in less than two weeks before expiring. There were other things needed that I don't expect the dealership to know right off the bat (may not have been visually obvious without an inspection) such as windshield wiper pump.
Soooo, I'm just saying it is my personal view that, though one would sell vehicles as-is, i think it would be prudent and best practice to have replaced a light, fixed the visually broken backup light assembly, and replaced the oil drain plug (if i noticed that much oil on the ground a day after purchase, I have to believe they did, too). They could obviously have added those fixes to the price but it would have given a higher level of confidence. Fixed or at least have noticed, diagnosed, and priced repairs for the buyer.
Word of mouth and referrals are important.
I do think Neil and Nigel are top notch guys. I just think a little more attention to anything that is visible without a full mechanic inspection would go far for their customers giving referrals and having confidence.
