Our 19 yo daughter needed a car after wrecking her first car. We wanted to get her something clean, reliable, and reasonably low miles, but were having trouble finding something in our price range in the Atlanta area. I saw a PT Cruiser that looked good at Cross Automotive, and since it was a hike out to Carrollton for me, I called and spoke to Rick and asked about the car and told him why I was interested. He indicated that the car was clean and would be a good choice for our needs. He also gave me an estimated out the door price. I drove out to Cross Automotive to drive the car and liked it. Very clean and apparently owned by an older person who didn't drive it much. There were a couple of minor (we thought) issues with the car (window motor and windshield glass), so they were going to get those fixed for us before completing the purchase. When I went out a few days later to purchase the car with my daughter, the SRS light was on. Thinking that it was a mistake of the guy who fixed the window (the car had side airbags), they told us they would get it fixed, and we could get the car the following week. While we were disappointed that we drove all the way out there and didn't leave with the car, as a mom, I was appreciative they wouldn't sell us a car with the SRS light on. Fast forward a few days and it turns out the car was a dog. The SRS light issue could not be figured out on the PT Cruiser and Brian and team declined to sell us the car at any price. Instead, Rick offered us a very low mile Nissan Versa with some cosmetic damage at a price well below the book value. While it was a bit more expensive than the PT Cruiser, it is 8 years newer and is a much better car for our daughter. While Brian and his folks are a business, I definitely had the feeling that they were in this to help people get good cars at decent prices. Overall, I am very satisfied with our experience at Cross Automotive. I will note that they don't appear to do any mechanical work on the cars unless there is a clear issue. Our Versa's oil had not been changed for a super long time (apparently some family teens were driving grandma's car for a long time without permission). Realizing there might not have been any maintenance on the car since the owner (grandma) wasn't tracking the car's usage, we took the car in shortly after we purchased to get the fluids looked at. There was no long term damage from the lack of oil change for likely 20k+ miles (it's a Nissan after all). Baring an accident, I expect this car to last for some time. As a tip to others considering buying a car at Cross Automotive, I think that if I was buying a car from them again, I would see how much history they know about the car I was interested in. They seem to get a lot of trade ins from locals who they know, and it appears that for some of the cars on the lot, there is history available beyond the CarFax report.
Rick and Rob are friendly and helpful. A variety is available of cars, SUV's, trucks, age and color of vehicles. Stop by and take a look. Tell them Patricia sent you with a review.
Brian is an honest business man, has a great selection of late model vehicles to choose from and won't steer you wrong, good credit, not so good credit, go see him for your next vehicle purchase!
