I always swore that I would NEVER buy a used car online without seeing it in person first. I’d wanted a 71,72, or 73 Cougar XR7 since I was 18 years old, but by the time I’d gotten my drivers license and scraped together the money to buy one used, it seemed that every one I looked at was worn out and rusting away, even though these cars weren’t even 10 years old at the time. (I was born and raised in the northeast). So I never got one. It haunted me for years afterwards. So when I saw this 73 XR7 come up for sale on the Affordable Classics website, I looked through all the many pictures, watched the video, and knew in my gut that FINALLY, this was “the one”. Just what I wanted - a California car with original paint and no rust. Problem was, I’m in coastal North Carolina now, the car was in Oregon, and my situation was such that it was impossible for me to fly out there to see it. It took me about 2 weeks to talk myself into going through with the transaction sight unseen, but there are so few of these cars left today, you might see one as nice as this come up for sale once every two years, if that often. And the price was well within the range of what the car was worth. So with much trepidation, I agreed to buy it. Once I did, it turned out to be one of the smoothest transactions I’ve ever participated in. I wired the money on a Tuesday evening. Thursday morning FedEx was knocking at my front door with the title and pertinent paperwork. Friday, the shipping company picked up the car in Oregon. The following Friday evening, it arrived here in North Carolina. My stomach was in a knot as the drivers backed the car out of the enclosed trailer, but my worries as to what I’d actually bought quickly evaporated. The car was EXACTLY as Juan had described. Nothing was misrepresented or overstated. It ran and drove incredibly well, just as he’d promised. I had a local shop check it out, and they confirmed that, aside from a couple of VERY minor things that required inexpensive fixes, things one might expect from a car that’s 50 years old, the car was indeed mechanically sound. So now I’m having a ball driving it around whenever I get the chance. There are a lot of young people where I work, and they all love the car and are incredulous about its original condition. So I’d like to thank Juan (a fellow Native New Yorker, BTW!) and everyone at Affordable Classics for making my dream become a reality - all those years later!

This is an easy review to do. I buy a lot of vehicles more than most for sure and I always get treated properly and fairly when I go to affordable Classics. Don't know how many vehicles I've purchased from Juan and Mario but a lot. And if I've ever purchased anything and it's had even the slightest problem, Juan makes sure it gets taken care of. To me that would be unheard of in most dealerships especially when you're buying a 50-year-old car. He makes sure the cars are ready and aren't gonna get you someplace in appoint you by stopping or not running properly. And cars that are that old can be very unpredictable but the ones that I've purchased from Juan and Mario have all been top shelf. And Juan's wife Linda that takes care of the DMV and titling and registration couldn't be nicer. I'll check out their websites sometimes daily just to see if they have anything that I like and if they do, it's just a phone call and tell me to come check it out. I want it make a deal. If you're looking for enthusiastically, recommend Juan or Mario and taking a look at their inventory. They are honest and if they say they're going to do something they follow through. Great work and great vehicles.
