Having recently relocated back to Staten Island, I found myself in need of servicing for my 2021 Chevy Spark. I bought and leased 4 cars from Island Chevrolet (formerly Manfredi) and always had a great experience with our salesperson, Joe S. The service department, however, left a lot to be desired. I brought my daughter's 2019 Equinox in last summer because the paint on the hood was bubbling up and peeling. The manager had a staff member, Melody, take photos of it to be sent to Chevy corporate. Months went by and crickets....I called to follow up several times, but no return calls - you'd be lucky if someone even answered the phone; my husband went to the service desk numerous times - and nothing. I called again a few weeks ago, and finally reached someone who was willing to help, Jenny. She put me in contact with the NEW service manager, Carlos Mercado, who did more in one day than anyone else there did in 6 months. He called me back and told me to bring the car in when I was ready, and that he would reach out to corporate and ask them to give us a goodwill offer, so we'd only have to pay for half of the cost of fixing the hood, since it wasn't under warranty. Carlos was in touch on a nearly daily basis, and ultimately, was able to have Chevy fix the hood at no expense to us. I cannot say enough good things about him. He really went above and beyond for us and I am so happy that Island Chevy finally has someone there who will turn the "do nothing" culture in the service dept. around. Island Chevy is very luck to have him, and because of him, we will continue to be repeat customers. I highly recommend Island Chevy because of the competency and diligence of Carlos Mercado.
