After looking off and on over the past few years for the “right” 1955 Chevy Bel Air hardtop, I stumbled across an ad for a beautiful black 2 door listed by “Drive the Coast”. The car looked excellent in photos and was priced very fair. It was even in Florida, my home state. I admittedly had some hesitation, as I never thought I would find a decent classic car at a dealership. But it looked so good that I got over the hesitation and immediately reached out. I ended up speaking with Josh, who was extremely friendly, knowledgeable and professional. He gave me the rundown on the car and I had asked for quite a few specific photos. The type of photos that most sellers don’t want to share. He sent all the pics right away. As they were coming to my phone, I had sent more texts and asked if he would take a close up of the inner quarters and go back and try to take another angle of the rockers, the seam under the doors, etc... He met all my requests quickly. I was blown away at the quality of the car and how it appeared to have all original sheet metal. I’m actually embarrassed to say, that I didn’t even drive up to look at it in person… He was only about 6 hours away! Ive flown to other states to look at cars that sellers were asking less for. But for some reason, between the photos and Josh’s description, I felt that I needed to make an offer, sight unseen. Josh accepted. That’s when I shot a bank transfer and started second guessing myself. 4 sleepless nights thinking “what the hell have I done?.. why didn’t I just go look at it?”
When the car showed up on the trailer that Sunday night, all my doubts immediately disappeared and I knew that I made the right decision. It was everything I dreamed it would be, and then some. I’m super thankful for Josh and would recommend his dealership if you’re looking for a quality collector car. I’m sure I’ll be reaching out to him when I’m in the market for my next classic.
