On March 12, 1947, in Maranello, Italy, Auto Costruzioni Ferrari formally released the 125 S – the brand’s first sports car. Powered by Gioacchino Colombo’s 1.5 L V12, it won its debut race at the Grand Prix of Rome on May 11, 1947, underscoring Ferrari’s roots in motorsport and cementing Enzo Ferrari’s vision of racing-bred performance. During the 1960s and 1970s, Ferrari solidified its legend with GT icons and supercars. The 250 GTO (1962–64) delivered three consecutive GT World Championships and dominated endurance events like the Tour de France Automobile with its 300 hp Colombo V12. On July 21, 1987, Ferrari unveiled the F40 – the last model personally approved by Enzo Ferrari – marrying a twin-turbo V8 to a Kevlar-reinforced, carbon-composite body in celebration of the marque’s 40th anniversary. Today Ferrari balances exclusivity with robust growth. In 2024 it posted record net revenues of €6 677 million on 13 752 shipments, with plug-in hybrids such as the SF90 Stradale accounting for over half of sales. Its current range spans the 296 GTB, Roma, and Purosangue SUV, and it will reveal its first fully electric model on October 9, 2025, marking a new chapter alongside petrol and hybrid powertrains.
