Initially envisioned as “Concept Genesis” by Hyundai in 2003, the marque was announced as an independent luxury brand on November 4, 2015, in Seoul. Its first model, the G90 flagship sedan, launched in late 2016, setting a new benchmark for rear-wheel-drive luxury with bespoke Korean craftsmanship, advanced safety systems and cutting-edge infotainment. Since entering the U.S. in 2017 and Europe in 2021, the brand has expanded its global reach, exceeding one million cumulative sales by mid-2023. Genesis’ portfolio spans the G70, G80 and G90 sedans alongside the GV60, GV70 and GV80 crossovers, including the Electrified G80 introduced in 2021 and the battery-electric GV60 debuting in 2021. Committed to a fully electric future, Genesis vows all new models will be EVs from 2025, targeting a fully electric lineup by 2030 and carbon neutrality by 2035.
