Jaguar began in 1922 when William Lyons and William Walmsley formed the Swallow Sidecar Company in Blackpool. Initially building motorcycle sidecars, the duo turned to coachbuilt bodies by 1927 and produced complete cars under the SS Jaguar 100 name in 1935. Renamed Jaguar Cars in 1945, the marque stunned the world with the XK120 roadster in 1948 selling at over 120 mph and cementing its reputation for performance and elegance. In the 1960s Jaguar reshaped sports-car design with the E-Type praised for beauty and speed while pioneering the twin-cam straight-six engine. Today Jaguar has refocused as a pure-electric luxury brand under JLR’s Reimagine strategy offering the BEV I-Pace alongside the F-Type and upcoming electric saloons. Its 2026 roadmap emphasizes sustainable craftsmanship, narrow model line-up, and high-end market positioning.
