KZ RV was founded in 1972 in Northern Indiana when Daryl Zook built his first truck camper nearly by hand. The small operation grew quickly on a foundation of craftsmanship, quality, fairness, and integrity. Early innovations included a patented rear-slide mechanism that helped the company stand out in a crowded RV market. Over time KZ moved into travel trailers, fifth wheels, and toy haulers. It created product families like Sportsmen, Durango, Escape, Venom, Connect, and Venture. The company also embraced lean manufacturing practices ahead of much of the industry. Today KZ is part of Thor Industries but still based in Shipshewana, Indiana. The site employs more than 600 people and produces 12 product lines with over 150 available floorplans, making KZ one of the key builders of towable RVs in North America.
