In December 1914, Alfieri, Ettore and Ernesto Maserati opened a small workshop in Bologna to build racing cars and spark plugs for aircraft engines. Early successes at events like the Targa Florio established the brand’s performance credentials, and the adoption of Mario Maserati’s trident logo in 1920 cemented its cultural identity. After the Orsi family moved production to Modena in 1939, Maserati introduced its first road car, the 3500 GT, in 1957, blending racing technology with grand touring luxury. Today Maserati’s lineup spans the Levante SUV, Ghibli and Quattroporte sedans, and the mid-engined MC20 sports car, with a renewed emphasis on bespoke craftsmanship through its Officine Fuoriserie program. Under Stellantis stewardship, the marque is refocusing on high-performance models and measured electrification, leveraging its rich racing heritage to navigate a rapidly evolving luxury segment.
