Mercedes-Benz

Karl Benz’s Patent-Motorwagen of 1886 laid the groundwork for the world’s first horseless carriage, and in 1901 the “Mercedes” name debuted on a Daimler model engineered by Wilhelm Maybach. The 1926 merger of Benz & Cie. and Daimler-Motoren-Gesellschaft in Stuttgart formalized the Mercedes Benz marque, uniting a century of automotive ingenuity under a single star. Over the decades Mercedes-Benz pioneered safety and performance with the first production crumple zone in 1959 and the debut of anti-lock brakes (ABS) in 1978. The three-point star became a symbol of luxury and engineering excellence, appearing on rally courses, Formula One circuits and in pop culture. Today the lineup spans entry-level compacts through ultra-luxury Maybach sedans, performance-tuned AMG models and a rapidly expanding Mercedes-EQ electric range anchored by digital services and next-gen driver aids.
