Nissan’s story began in Yokohama on December 26, 1933, when Jidosha-Seizo Co., Ltd. was born from the amalgamation of DAT Motors and Tobata Casting. Early on, the fledgling automaker made waves with the Datsun Type 11 in 1932, but its true breakthrough came in 1969 when the Datsun 240Z stunned the world with Japanese engineering and styling at an affordable price. That sporty coupe established Nissan as a global contender and sparked a string of iconic models. Innovation has always been part of Nissan’s DNA. In 2010, the Leaf became the world’s best-selling electric vehicle, pioneering mass-market EV adoption. Today, Nissan’s lineup spans the Altima and Maxima sedans, Rogue and Pathfinder crossovers, the revived Z sports car, and the Ariya EV. Under its “Ambition 2030” strategy, Nissan is doubling down on electrification, software-defined vehicles, and sustainable mobility across its global network.
